Single Visit Root Canal in Keshav Puram, New Delhi

Short answer

Many root canals can be finished painlessly in a single appointment of about 45 to 90 minutes, using modern local anaesthesia. Dr. Sneha, an MDS endodontist, checks your tooth and X-ray first and tells you whether one visit is right for you.

Who it is for

A root canal saves a tooth whose inner pulp is infected by deep decay, a crack or an injury. Infected pulp cannot heal on its own. You may need one if you notice:

  • Severe or throbbing toothache, or pain that wakes you at night
  • Sensitivity to hot or cold that lingers after the food is gone
  • Pain when biting or chewing
  • Swelling of the gum, or a small pimple near the tooth
  • A tooth that has turned darker

One visit usually suits you if

  • The tooth hurts but there is no large swelling
  • The roots have a straightforward shape
  • You can keep your mouth open comfortably

Two visits are safer when

  • There is a large abscess or swelling with pus
  • An old root canal needs re-treatment
  • Canals are very curved, narrow or blocked
  • Medicine must sit inside the tooth for some days

What happens, step by step

  1. 1Examination and digital X-rayDr. Sneha checks the tooth and takes an X-ray that shows the roots in seconds.
  2. 2Local anaesthesiaThe tooth and the area around it are fully numbed first.
  3. 3Cleaning the canalsThe infected pulp is removed, then the canals are cleaned, shaped and disinfected with rotary instruments.
  4. 4Filling and sealingThe canals are filled and sealed so bacteria cannot get back in.
  5. 5Closing the toothA filling closes the tooth the same day. A crown is usually fitted a few days later.

How long it takes

45 to 90
minutes in the chair
1 visit
for many teeth; 2 when infection needs it
+ crown
usually fitted a few days later

A root-canal-treated back tooth is more brittle than a healthy one, so it usually needs a crown to protect it from cracking.

Is it painful?

No. Painless treatment is how we work. The tooth and the area around it are fully numbed before we begin, so you feel pressure and vibration, not pain. Dr. Sneha explains each step before she starts. The toothache that brings you in is usually far worse than the treatment that ends it.

Aftercare

  • Wait until the numbness wears off before you eat.
  • Chew on the other side for a few days, and avoid hard food on that side until the crown is fitted.
  • Brush and floss as usual.
  • Mild tenderness for two or three days is normal. Simple pain relief prescribed by Dr. Sneha is usually enough.

Call the clinic if you have swelling, strong pain after a few days, or if the filling comes out.

Cost

The price depends on the tooth and whether it needs a crown. Dr. Sneha confirms the exact cost at your consultation, before any treatment begins.

Consultation from ₹100. The treatment price is confirmed before anything begins.

Questions about root canals

Is root canal treatment painful?

With modern local anaesthesia it is painless for most patients. You feel pressure and vibration, not pain. Mild soreness for two or three days afterwards is normal.

Can every root canal be done in one visit?

Many can. A large abscess, a re-treatment or very curved canals may need two visits, which gives the tooth the best chance of healing.

Do I still need a crown after a root canal?

Usually, yes. A root-canal-treated back tooth is more brittle than a healthy one. A crown protects it from cracking and is normally fitted a few days later.

Is it better to just remove the tooth?

Saving your natural tooth is almost always the better choice. A missing tooth lets neighbouring teeth drift, makes chewing harder and usually needs a bridge or implant later.

When can I eat after the treatment?

Wait until the numbness wears off. Then chew on the other side, and avoid hard food on the treated side until the crown is in place.
