# Dental Extractions in Keshav Puram, New Delhi

> A tooth extraction removes a tooth that cannot be saved, such as one that is badly broken, decayed or loose. It is done gently under local anaesthesia, so you feel pressure but no pain. Dr. Sneha always tries to save a tooth first.

- Visits: Usually 1
- Appointment: Short
- Pain: Fully numbed
- Consultation: From ₹100

## Who it is for

An extraction may be needed for:

- A tooth broken or decayed beyond repair
- A tooth loosened by advanced gum disease
- Crowding, before braces
- A milk tooth that has not fallen out in time
- A problem wisdom tooth

**Before we decide**

- We check whether a root canal or crown could save the tooth
- We take an X-ray to see the roots
- We discuss how to replace the gap if needed

## What happens, step by step

1. **Examination and X-ray.** Dr. Sneha checks the tooth and its roots, and confirms that removal is the best option.
2. **Local anaesthesia.** The tooth and the area around it are fully numbed.
3. **Gentle removal.** The tooth is loosened and removed carefully. You feel pressure, not pain.
4. **Gauze and stitches if needed.** You bite on gauze to help a clot form. Occasionally a small stitch is placed.
5. **Aftercare advice.** You go home with clear instructions for the next few days.

## How long it takes

- 1 visit: for most extractions
- Short: appointment for a simple extraction
- A few days: for the area to settle

Most people return to normal activities the next day.

## Is it painful?

Painless treatment is how we work. The area is fully numbed with local anaesthesia before we begin, so you feel pressure, not pain. Dr. Sneha explains each step before she starts.

## Aftercare

- Bite on the gauze for 30 to 45 minutes.
- For the first 24 to 48 hours, do not rinse hard, spit forcefully, use a straw or smoke; this protects the clot.
- Eat soft, cool food and chew on the other side.
- From the next day, rinse gently with warm salt water after meals.
- Use a cold pack on the cheek on the first day if there is swelling.

Call the clinic if bleeding does not stop, pain gets worse after the third day, or you have fever or increasing swelling.

## Cost

The price depends on how easy the tooth is to remove. Dr. Sneha confirms it at your consultation.

Consultation from ₹100.

## Questions about extractions

**Will an extraction hurt?**

No. The area is fully numbed, so you feel pressure but no pain. Some soreness afterwards is normal for a few days.

**What can I eat afterwards?**

Soft, cool food such as curd, khichdi and soups for the first day or two. Avoid very hot drinks and hard or crunchy food.

**What is a dry socket?**

It happens when the blood clot is lost too early, leaving the socket painful. Not smoking, not using straws and not rinsing hard in the first day or two helps prevent it.

**Should I replace the missing tooth?**

Usually, yes, unless it is a wisdom tooth. A gap lets neighbouring teeth drift. A bridge or implant can replace it.

**Can I go to work the next day?**

Most people can. After a difficult extraction you may want a day to rest.
