# Braces in Keshav Puram, New Delhi

> Braces use small brackets and a wire to apply gentle, steady pressure that moves teeth into a better position over time. Treatment usually takes one to two years, with short adjustment visits every few weeks. They work for children, teenagers and adults.

- Treatment: Often 1 to 2 years
- Adjustments: Every 4 to 8 weeks
- Pain: Soreness for a few days
- Consultation: From ₹100

## Who it is for

Braces can correct:

- Crooked or crowded teeth
- Gaps between teeth
- Overbite, underbite or crossbite
- Teeth that are hard to clean because of crowding
- Bite problems that cause uneven wear

**Good to know**

- Healthy teeth and gums are needed before braces
- Some teeth may need removal if crowding is severe
- A retainer after braces keeps teeth in place

**Braces or aligners?**

- Braces are fixed and suit most cases, including complex ones
- Aligners are clear and removable, for mild to moderate cases
- Dr. Sneha will advise which suits you

## What happens, step by step

1. **Consultation and records.** Dr. Sneha examines your teeth and bite, with photographs, X-rays and impressions or scans.
2. **Treatment plan.** She explains how your teeth will move, how long it should take, and the cost.
3. **Fitting the braces.** Brackets are bonded to the teeth and the wire is placed. This does not hurt.
4. **Adjustments.** Every few weeks the wire is adjusted to keep teeth moving.
5. **Removal and retainer.** When teeth are in place, the braces come off and a retainer holds the result.

## How long it takes

- 1 to 2 years: typical treatment time
- Every 4 to 8 weeks: adjustment visits
- Retainer: after braces, as advised

Treatment time depends on how much the teeth need to move and on wearing elastics or retainers as advised.

## Is it painful?

Fitting braces is not painful. Teeth may feel sore for a few days after fitting and after adjustments; soft food and simple pain relief help.

## Aftercare

- Avoid hard and sticky food such as nuts, toffees and chewing gum.
- Brush carefully around the brackets after every meal; interdental brushes help.
- Use orthodontic wax if a bracket rubs your cheek.
- Wear your retainer exactly as advised once braces come off.

Call the clinic if a bracket or wire breaks or pokes your gum.

## Cost

The cost depends on the type of braces and how long treatment takes. Dr. Sneha confirms it in your treatment plan.

Consultation from ₹100.

## Questions about braces

**What is the right age for braces?**

Many children start between 10 and 14, but adults can have braces too. An early check around age 7 helps spot bite problems.

**How long will I need braces?**

Usually one to two years, depending on how much your teeth need to move.

**Do braces hurt?**

Fitting does not hurt. Teeth may feel sore for a few days after fitting and adjustments.

**Can I eat normally?**

Most foods, yes. Avoid hard and sticky food that can break brackets.

**Why do I need a retainer?**

Teeth tend to drift back. A retainer holds them in their new position.
